Powerball Jackpot Hits $1.3 Billion; $1 Million Winner In Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- After there was no winner in Saturday night's Powerball drawing, the jackpot jumped to a record estimated $1.3 billion dollars, with the cash prize option estimated at $806 million.

The next drawing will be on Wednesday night. The previous high for a Powerball jackpot was the $590.5 million drawing won on May 18, 2013.

In Boston, there was one Match 5 winner. Those tickets are worth $1 million.

The winning $1 million ticket was sold at Clarendon Wine Co. on Boylston St.

There were 13 other Match 5 $1 million winners nationwide. There were also two Match 5 Power Play winners, in Connecticut and Texas, who won $2 million.

Tickets for Powerball cost $2, and can be purchased at any Massachusetts Lottery retailer. Players can get the Power Play option for an additional $1, which multiplies any non-jackpot prize won on that ticket.

Wednesday's drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m.
