Popular Brookline Deli Abruptly Closing Its Doors

BROOKLINE (CBS) – The owners of a Brookline deli that has been open for nearly a century announced this week that they will be permanently closing the popular restaurant.

Rubin's Kosher Restaurant and Delicatessen opened in 1927 on Harvard Street.

On Thursday, the owners of the deli said in a Facebook post that with a "heavy heart" they will close for good Friday at 3 p.m.

"We will miss all our loyal customers and we want to thank you for being such good friends to us," Erica and Allen Gellerman wrote in the post. "It was a pure pleasure talking with people from all parts of the world and always learning from them and of course enjoying being a part of the Brookline community."

The owners did not give a reason for the decision to close.

"We wish everyone nothing but good things, health and happiness to all our loyal staff and the community," Erica and Allen Gellerman wrote. "Thank you for all the good memories."
