Police Replace Wilmington Boy's Stolen Pumpkins

WILMINGTON (CBS) -- Police made sure a Wilmington boy's Halloween went off without a hitch by replacing his stolen pumpkins on Saturday.

Sam, 6, tearfully told police about six pumpkins that were stolen from his front porch, according to the Wilmington Police Department Facebook page.

Knowing that it was unlikely they would be able to find the pumpkins, officers took up a collection, went to a store and bought him eight new pumpkins, police say. They also got him a bag of candy.

Three police officers delivered them to Sam.
