MELROSE - Neighbors near Orchard Lane only have good things to say about the friendly face who delivers their mail each day. "Very nice, very friendly; Sometimes gives the dog treats when she comes to the door," one neighbor said.

So everyone in the Melrose neighborhood is upset about the awful thing that happened to her Saturday. She was robbed along her route. Investigators say the suspects seen in surveillance video showed weapons as they threatened her. It happened just after 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

"Several years she's been our carrier. We see her every day. I heard she was about two weeks away from retirement," a neighbor said.

Meanwhile Melrose neighbors feel badly for so many years of service to wind down on this note over the holiday season.

"I hope she's OK. I don't know if she'll be back to work. Would love to see her again. I hope things go well for her in retirement," the neighbor added.

The Postal Service said the letter carrier was not hurt.
