Police Ask Public For Help Identifying Person Of Interest In Boston Carjacking
BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston police are asking the public to help them identify a person of interest in a carjacking that occurred in late August.
Police have released surveillance photos of a man who allegedly carjacked a woman in Boston's South End in the hope the public can identify him.
Officers were called to the area of Cumberland and Saint Botolph streets around 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 21 on a report of a disturbance. A woman told police that she was parking her car on Cumberland when an unidentified black man approached her driver's side door and opened it.
The man tried to push the woman into the car while he attempted to get in, but she struggled and he pulled her out of the car, police say. Investigators say she broke free and ran away, while the man drove away in her car.
The car, which was later found on fire, was located on Peterborough Street. The suspect was believed to be last seen walking on Park Drive toward Beacon Street.
The woman described the man as having short, curly black hair, and he was wearing a light gray or blue short-sleeved shirt and possibly ill-fitting shoes.
