Police: Officer In NH Breakdown Lane Struck By Mass. Driver
NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has been accused of driving into a breakdown lane and hitting a police officer with his passenger side mirror in New Hampshire before speeding off.
Police said 23-year-old Zachary Rowland of Pepperell, Massachusetts, was charged early Saturday with conduct after an accident, disobeying a police officer and aggravated driving while intoxicated.
Police said Sgt. Joshua Albert was on the Everett Turnpike in Nashua when he stopped to assist a driver in the breakdown lane. He set up road flares and was standing in the lane with the driver and tow truck operator when he was struck.
Albert, who suffered a minor injury, got into his car and gave chase. Rowland was arrested a short time later. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.
