Police: Medical Emergency Possible Cause Of Fatal Yarmouth Crash

YARMOUTH (CBS) – Police are investigating a fatal crash in South Yarmouth they say may have been caused by a medical emergency.

Officers responded to a three-car crash on Station Ave. in South Yarmouth Wednesday at about 2 p.m.

Robert Foleiks, a 79-year-old Yarmouthport resident, was in cardiac arrest when first responders arrived. Yarmouth firefighters attempted to revive Froleiks but he was pronounced dead after being transported to Cape Cod Hospital.

Two other drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were also transported to Cape Cod Hospital, police said.

Yarmouth police said the initial investigation shows that Froleiks was traveling south on Station Ave. when he veered into oncoming traffic, crashing into two other cars.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, but police said it is possible Froleiks suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
