DPW Worker Charged With Filming Women In Arlington Cafe Bathroom
ARLINGTON (CBS) - It's a disgusting and disturbing crime.
Police say on Saturday morning they arrested 53-year-old Joesph Hennesey of Salem, New Hampshire after he was caught spying on women in the Kickstand Cafe women's bathroom in Arlington.
"No place on earth do you have greater expectation of privacy than in a bathroom. It's a very disturbing crime," Arlington Police Captain Richard Flynn said.
There was no comment from the Kickstand Café, but police say Hennesey hooked up a camera in the ladies room and then watched, with a live feed, women in the bathroom.
"As you can see by the photos, looks like the camera was place in a flower arrangement. Looks like transmitting device in the flowers and a monitor accepting live feed," Flynn said.
Police say the woman in the bathroom noticed something suspicious and called 911.
Police say Hennesey has no criminal record. He is currently on workers compensation for the Arlington Department of Public Works. He was charged with disturbing the peace and photographing an unsuspecting nude person.
Police are now investigating if Hennesey targeted other cafes as well.
"I'm glad he's caught and I hope the punishment he gets is made public enough that it scares people away from doing this thing," Flynn said.
Hennesey is being held without bail and will arraigned Monday morning in Arlington.
