Arrest Made In Armed Robbery Of Lawrence Convenience Store

LAWRENCE (CBS) --- Police have made an arrest in an armed robbery of a convenience store.

Remys Fernando Lara, 22, of Lawrence, was arrested Wednesday and charged with armed robbery while masked, assault with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to commit a felony.

Last week, two men armed with a handgun, robbed a convenience store clerk of about $300 and packs of cigarettes. The men also forced a woman and child, who were in the store, onto the floor. No one was hurt in the robbery.

The whole thing was caught on surveillance camera.

Chief James Fitzpatrick said they recovered the car used after the robbery and traced a carton of cigarettes back to the store.

The second man, about 6-feet tall, is still at large.

Police believe the two men may be responsible for up to a dozen similar robberies in the area.
