Young Woman Found Dead In East Boston Garage

EAST BOSTON (CBS) – Construction workers found a young woman dead in a garage Wednesday and police say the death is being investigated as suspicious.

The workers came to a house on Princeton Street to start renovations around 8:30 a.m. and found the body inside a garage where equipment was being stored.

Boston Police believe the woman, who was fully clothed, is in her late teens or early 20's.

She has not been identified and police have not yet classified her death as a homicide.

"It's a very active investigation," Boston Police Superintendent Bernard O'Rourke said. "But the circumstances that we saw there leads us to believe it's very suspicious at this time."

Detectives are checking the neighborhood to see if any surveillance video could help their investigation.

A senior home across the street does have security cameras and police expect to view the footage for possible evidence.

Police also went door to door on Wednesday afternoon asking neighbors if they had seen anything suspicious.

O'Rourke said it appears the woman's death occurred on Princeton Street and they do not believe she was dumped there.

One neighbor said the area is normally quiet, and another resident described the discovery as "unsettling."
