Police Arrest Florida Man In Connection With Shooting Death In Easton Woods

EASTON (CBS) -- A Florida man was arrested Saturday in connection with a shooting death in Easton woods, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced.

Police arrested 47-year-old Michael Arthur Noguera, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, on Saturday and charged him with numerous counts all related to the death of Daniel Smith, the man found shot in Easton last week.

A group of teenagers riding their bikes in the Easton woods near Langwater Pond found Smith, 35, laying on the ground with a gunshot wound Tuesday. He was taken to the hospital, but later died.

Police arrested Noguera at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Conway, South Carolina. He is charged in Massachusetts with accessory to murder after the fact, armed robbery and larceny over $250, police say. Noguera also faces charges in South Carolina, including being a fugitive from justice.

Noguera will appear in court in South Carolina on Monday, according to the District Attorney's office. Law enforcement will then attempt to bring Noguera to Massachusetts for arraignment.

Police are still searching for a red 2016 Mazda 3 sedan with a Florida plate reading 372QQK they believe to be connected to the case. If anyone sees the vehicle, they are asked to call Easton Police at  (508) 230-3322 or Massachusetts State Police detectives at (508)-717-4238.
