Police Arrest Assonet Driver With 42 Opened 'Nip' Vodka Bottles

FREETOWN (CBS) – State police said that a man who was arrested for drunk driving on Sunday night had more than 40 open containers of liquor inside his vehicle.

Officers stopped James Woodward, 26, of Assonet, at about 5:30 p.m. on Route 24 in Freetown for motor vehicle violations.

When police approached Woodward's pickup truck, they found 42 opened "nip" bottles of vodka inside the vehicle.

Woodward was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and marked lanes violations.

The Assonet resident was scheduled to be arraigned in Fall River District Court Monday morning.
