Plants, Signs Ripped From Nature Trail Restored By Norwood Students

NORWOOD (CBS) -- Norwood police are looking for vandals who destroyed the hard work of fifth grade students.

A class at the Callahan School had been restoring a nature trail behind the school, adding plants and wooden signs worth more than $500.

On Sunday, police responded to the school for a report of "malicious damage."

"When volunteers arrived that morning, they found that every plant and post had been ripped out of the ground and thrown into the woods," Norwood police said.

The vandalism is believed to have occurred sometime between Saturday and Sunday afternoon, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

The school is hoping volunteers will show up on Wednesday at 4 p.m. to replant and install new posts. Click here for information on how to sign up.
