Plainridge Park Casino Gamblers Spent Over $180M At Slots In July
PLAINVILLE (CBS) -- Gamblers spent over $180 million at Massachusetts' first slots parlor in July, the state Gaming Commission reported Monday.
About 90 percent of that amount was paid back, resulting in a gross gaming revenue of just over $18 million at Plainridge Park Casino in Plainville.

The casino is taxed on 49 percent of their gross gaming revenue, with 82 percent of that amount going to Local Aid and the rest for a horse racing fund.
Plainridge opened to the public on June 24. It's expected to generate about $98 million in annual revenue for the state.
There are 1,200 slot machines at Plainridge, which offers electronic table games like video blackjack, video poker and video roulette.
A law legalizing casinos in Massachusetts was passed by voters in 2011, and survived a challenge at the ballot box last year.
