Fire Heavily Damages Wakefield Pizza Restaurant

WAKEFIELD (CBS) – Fire tore through a Wakefield pizza shop late Monday night.

Flames broke out around 10 p.m. at the Pizza Express on Albion Street. The fire spread through the business' roof.

Firefighters go the flames under control, but the building suffered about $100,000 worth of damage.

The restaurant will remain closed until repairs can be made. The 7-Eleven suffered smoke damaged and will be closed until it can be inspected by the Wakefield Board of Health.

Firefighters said the firewall between the two businesses prevented further damage.

One firefighter suffered a knee injury and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
