Pilot Dies In NH Lakes Region Ultralight Plane Crash

LACONIA, N.H. (CBS/AP) — The pilot of a small, ultralight plane that crashed near the Weirs Beach Channel on Saturday has died.

Laconia police say they received multiple calls about a plane down in the backyard of a Lucerne Avenue home around 3:40 p.m.

The pilot, who was trapped, was freed by firefighters and was rushed to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon.

The crash occurred at the edge of Lake Winnipesaukee's western shore near Laconia.
