4.5 Million Pounds Of Pilgrim's Pride Chicken Being Recalled

BOSTON (CBS) -- Pilgrim's Pride Corp. is recalling about 4,568,080 pounds of chicken products after consumers and meat inspectors found plastic, wood, rubber, and metal inside some of the chicken.

The recall, issued Tuesday by the Waco, Texas company, is an expansion of an earlier recall involving foreign materials contamination that was issued April 7.

The affected products were produced between Aug. 21, 2014, to March 1, 2016 and have the number "EST. 20728" inside the USDA inspection mark.

Consumers were instructed to throw away these products or return them to the place of purchase.

The USDA said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
