Book About Pete Frates, Ice Bucket Challenge To Hit Shelves Next Year
BOSTON (CBS) – The story of Pete Frates and how he inspired the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge will soon be the subject of a book.
Casey Sherman, author of "The Finest Hours" and a book about the marathon bombings called "Boston Strong" announced Saturday that he'd be writing a book about Frates with co-author Dave Wedge.
Frates is a former Boston College baseball captain who was diagnosed with ALS in 2012 when he was just 27 years old. The "Ice Bucket Challenge" became a viral sensation and raised more than $115 million for ALS research.

"Their mission has crossed cultural, language and religious barriers and has spread like wildfire throughout 150 countries culminating in the greatest social media campaign in history," Sherman said. "But there is so much you don't know about Pete's remarkable journey."
The book is called "Challenge" and is expected to be released in fall 2017.
