Pepperell Woman Reportedly Catches Robbery In Progress At Her Home

PEPPERELL (CBS) -- Pepperell police arrested an alleged robber who was caught in the act by the homeowner Thursday.

Police received a call from a woman who said she drove up to her Bayberry Road home and found a woman in a car parked in her driveway. The woman in the parked car quickly drove away. When the resident walked into her home, she heard footsteps upstairs and quickly called police.

Police arrived at the home just as the alleged robber was fleeing, but could not catch him. The man -- later identified as Christopher Irwin, 29, of Townsend -- was arrested after a retired Pepperell police chief spotted him walking on West Street near Hog Hill Road.

Irwin was charged with Breaking and Entering, Furnishing a False Name to Police, and Drug Possession. According to police, money and jewelry belonging to the homeowner were found in Irwin's duffle bag.

Police also arrested the alleged driver Jacqueline Collella, 27, of Leominster and charged her with Breaking and Entering.
