Pedestrian Struck & Killed On Expressway In Boston

BOSTON (AP) — Police say a pedestrian apparently trying to cross the southbound lanes of the Expressway in Boston has been struck and killed.

State police say the 38-year-old man was struck crossing Interstate 93 near the South Bay Shopping Center in Dorchester at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim, a 47-year-old Brockton man, was taken to Boston Medical Center.

Police say he remained at the scene, called 911, and did not show any signs of impairment. Police say his version of events matched up with witness accounts.

A reconstruction of the crash is underway to determine whether speed was a factor.

No names were released.
