Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Coca-Cola Truck In Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- A 68-year-old Boston woman was struck and killed by a Coca-Cola truck Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred in Charles Circle near the Liberty Hotel, Massachusetts State Police said.

Officers were inspecting a the tractor-trailer stopped at the scene on Wednesday.

"Coca-Cola is deeply saddened by the loss of the woman involved in the accident," the company said in a statement. "Our thoughts and condolences are with her family. We are cooperating with local officials in the investigation of this matter."

Authorities say evidence suggests the woman was crossing Cambridge Street against the light and heading toward the Liberty Hotel when she was hit by the truck.

The driver, a 38-year-old Saugus man, showed no signs of impairment when interviewed by police. The crash remains under investigation.
