Pedestrian Struck And Killed In East Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident in East Boston on Christmas Eve.

A man, who police did not identify, was killed after being hit Wednesday night on Waldemar Ave. in East Boston.

No charges are currently pending, police said, and the driver involved stopped immediately at the scene.

Witness Michael Rosetti rushed to help. He told WBZ-TV's Julie Loncich that he rolled the man over and tried to revive him.

"I figured anything was better than nothing," said Rosetti. "Everybody was just standing on the side of the road looking."

A shopping cart could be seen in the road with groceries and Christmas wrapping paper spread around the area.

"It's a tragedy. Christmas Eve," said witness Diane DiGiacamo.

A white BMW had visible damage to the passenger side near the vehicle's headlight.

The female driver of the BMW stopped, according to police. Witnesses say the woman had two young children in the car and was visibly upset.

"What a terrible, terrible thing to happen on Christmas Eve. Lost somebody and there was nothing I could do about it," said Rosetti.
