Peabody Police Officer Cleared Of Sex Assault Charges

LAWRENCE (CBS/AP) — A Peabody police officer has been acquitted of charges that he molested his former stepdaughter starting when she was 10 or 11 years old and showed her and another girl Internet pornography.

Frederick Wojick was found not guilty by a Lawrence Superior Court jury on Monday of nine counts of indecent assault and battery and two counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor.

The allegations came to light in 2012.

The 49-year-old Wojick said in his own defense that the allegations were not true, but the result of a vendetta by the girl who was angry that Wojick did not intervene when her boyfriend was arrested for drunken driving.

Wojick's lawyer says his client is "relieved" by the verdict and wants his job back.
