Peabody Shooting Leaves Man, Woman Injured

PEABODY (CBS) -- Two people were hurt after a shooting in Peabody Thursday night. Police were called to Veterans Memorial Drive around 11 p.m.

A Peabody woman had been shot in the wrist and was brought to North Shore Medical Center, police said.

A 22-year-old Lynn man was also shot. People nearby tried to drive him to the hospital but they stopped near Allens Lane and Washington Street to call an ambulance. He was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital with a thigh injury, according to police.

The woman was treated and released. The man's injury is believed to be non-life-threatening.

"A silver Chevy came down and turned around over here and then came back around and started shooting at the people. One girl got shot in the wrist," said Jamie Perez who lives nearby. "One person in the car shooting and then they left afterward."

Perez said her neighbors were having a party before the shooting.

She not longer feels safe in the neighborhood, she told WBZ-TV. "I know is going to happen again.

At least two cars have bullet hole damage.

Massachusetts State Police were also called to the scenes and are helping with the investigation.
