1 Dead, 2 Seriously Injured In Head-On Peabody Crash

PEABODY (CBS/AP) — One person has been killed and two others seriously injured in a head-on car crash early Saturday morning in Peabody.

Peabody police say the crash happened at around 1 a.m. on Lynnfield Street. Witnesses say it was drizzly and foggy at the time of the crash.

Both vehicle operators, a 22-year-old male and a 43-year-old female, were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after being extricated from their vehicles. A 51-year-old male passenger in the vehicle driven by the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sixteen-year-old Cassidy Malley and her mother came across the accident and rushed in to help.

"We both just bolted out of the car and ran toward the people," she said.

Police haven't released the names of the victims and no charges have been filed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the condition of the drivers wasn't available Saturday.
