PD: Wareham Woman Drunk, Passed Out At Wheel With Kids Asleep In Back Seat

CARVER (CBS) – A Wareham woman is facing drunk driving and child endangerment charges after Carver police say they found her asleep at the wheel with two children in the back seat.

Someone called officers around 9 p.m. on Saturday to report a suspicious vehicle pulling in and out of the driveway at 154 Tremont Street in Carver.

Responding officers say they found a 2002 Mercury Sable parked in the driveway with the engine running, headlights on, and the driver, identified as Jennifer Bangs, 40, asleep behind the wheel.

There were also two young girls asleep in the back seat, police said.

After several attempts to wake her up, police say Bangs took and failed a field sobriety test.

She was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and two counts of child endangerment.

Police say the children were turned over to a relative and friend of the family. DCF was notified of the situation.
