Pats Cut 11 Players; LaFell Placed On PUP List

FOXBOROUGH (CBS) -- The New England Patriots announced Saturday that they have released 11 players and placed wide receiver Brandon LaFell on the reserve/physically unable to perform list to reach the 53-man limit.

Several veterans were cut, including tight end Asante Cleveland, linebacker Darius Fleming, running back Jonas Gray, cornerback Robert McClain, defensive lineman Zach Moore, wide receiver Jalen Saunders, and wide receiver Reggie Wayne.

A trio of rookies were released, including defensive back Justin Coleman, linebacker Xzavier Dickson, and safety Brandon King.

First-year defensive back Daxton Swanson was also released.

By placing LaFell on the P.U.P. list, he won't be able to play until Oct. 25.
