Patriots To Hold Joint Practices With Bears

BOSTON (CBS) -- Once again, the Patriots will be sharing the practice field this preseason.

The Patriots announced Monday that they'll host joint practices with the Chicago Bears on Monday, August 15 and Tuesday, August 16 before the two teams meet for their preseason tilt at Gillette Stadium on Thursday, August 18.

The Patriots have held a number of joint practice sessions over the last few years, joining the Saints for three days in West Virginia last season before traveling to New Orleans for their preseason game. The two teams also practiced together in Foxboro in 2010 and 2012.

With the Patriots opening their preseason slate against the Saints at Gillette, it's possible the two teams could get together again for another round of joint sessions. That has already been discussed by the two teams, according to ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss.

The Patriots also held joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins in 2014.

Joint practice are becoming much more common throughout the NFL, giving teams a chance to break up the monotony of training camp and players a chance to hit someone other than their teammates.

No official start date has been announced for Patriots training camp, but it will likely begin two weeks prior to the preseason opener on August 11.
