Patriots-Steelers Stats & Fun Facts

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots will raise their Super Bowl XLIX Thursday night at Gillette Stadium, and then kick off the 2015 NFL season against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Here are a few notes and fun facts you should know about Thursday night's tilt:

- The Patriots are opening their season at home for the first time since 2010.

- This will be the 28th time the Pats and the Steelers will square off. Pittsburgh holds the edge at 14-9 in the regular season, but the Pats have a 3-1 edge in the postseason.

- This will be the third time these two teams square off in the season opener.

- The last time the Patriots and Steelers played was November 3, 2013, when New England won 55-31 at Gillette Stadium.

- The Pats will be playing on Thursday for the 14th time in team history and the third time as part of the NFL's Kickoff. The Pats are 8-5 on Thursday football games.

- Tom Brady is 5-2 against the Steelers in the regular season and 2-0 against them in the postseason. He is 3-1 against the Mike Tomlin-coached Steelers with 13 touchdowns and no picks.

- Brady is 11-2 on opening day, the best record among any QB in the Super Bowl era.

- Brady has 160 career wins with the Patriots. With one more win, Brady will have more wins by a quarterback with one team in NFL history.

- This will be Tom Brady's 16th season, matching Steve Grogan for the most seasons with the team.

- Bill Belichick has 12 division titles as a head coach. He needs one more to tie Tom Landry and Don Shula for the most among head coaches.

- Rob Gronkowski has a reception in 65 consecutive regular season games.

- The Patriots are 23-10 in September since 2005.

- Including playoff and preseason games, the Patriots have a 230 game sellout streak.

- Ben Roethlisberger is 3-4 against the Pats in the regular season and 0-1 against them in the postseason.

- Former Boston College quarterback Tyler Murphy made the Steelers roster as a QB/WR.
