Patriots Sign Former Saints Running Back Travaris Cadet

FOXBOROUGH (CBS) – The New England Patriots added a new piece to their backfield as they work to fill the void left by running back Shane Vereen's departure to the New York Giants.

On Tuesday, the Patriots announced the signing of 26-year-old former New Orleans Saints running back Travaris Cadet.

Cadet, who is listed at 6 feet 2 inches tall and 210 pounds, signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Appalachian State in 2012.

In 41 games, Cadet has rushed for just 37 yards. But he has 45 career receptions for 345 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 50 kickoff returns for 1,293 yards in his tenure with the Saints.

On Oct. 13, 2013, Cadet scored his first career touchdown, a 3-yard catch against the Patriots.

Details of the contract were not released.
