Patriots Reportedly Sign Matthew Slater To 1-Year Extension
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots have awarded their special teams leader with a contract extension.
According to ESPN's Field Yates, Matthew Slater has agreed to a one-year extension that will keep him in New England though the 2017 season. The deal is for $1.8 million, with $1.5 million guaranteed, and a max value of $2.1 million according to Yates.
Slater, who the Patriots drafted in the fifth round in 2008 out of UCLA, is considered one of the best special team players in the league. The longtime Patriots captain has been to named to five Pro Bowls and is a three-time first-team All-Pro.
