Patriots Reportedly Extend Punter Ryan Allen

FOXBORO (CBS) – The New England Patriots are making sure their special teams unit is stable for the near future.

After locking up kicker Stephen Gostkowski to a reported four-year, $17 million contract earlier this month, the Patriots are now locking up their punter.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, New England signed punter Ryan Allen to a 3-year contract extension.

Allen joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and has averaged 46.1 yards per boot over his two-year career.

In this year's Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks, Allen set the record for longest punt in Super Bowl history at 64 yards.

The Patriots have not officially announced the signing.
