Patriots Re-Sign Long Snapper Danny Aiken
BOSTON (CBS) -- The New England Patriots have a long snapper once again, meaning Rob Ninkovich can focus on his duties along the defensive line.
After releasing Danny Aiken on Saturday as part of the team's final cut-down, the Patriots brought him back on Thursday.
It was a very interesting couple of days at Gillette, with practice squader Charley Hughlett the team's only long-snapper until his release on Wednesday. Ninkovich has served as Aiken's backup in past seasons, and it appeared as though he may have had to take over that role full-time following this week's moves.
Aiken was originally claimed off waivers and awarded to the Patriots from the Buffalo Bills back in 2011. Since arriving in New England, Aiken has handled all of the long snapping duties in 48 games and seven postseason games.
The Patriots also announced on Thursday that they have re-signed linebacker Chris White to the 53-man roster and re-signed quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson to the practice squad.
