Ryan Allen Named AFC Special Teams Player Of The Week

BOSTON (CBS) -- After delivering seven booming punts against the Houston Texans last Thursday, Patriots punter Ryan Allen has been named the AFC Special Teams Play of the Week.

Allen punted seven times for 333 yards (47.6 average) and placed six of his punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line in New England's 27-0 win over the Houston Texans. He placed punts at the 11, 10, 10, 14, 5 and 4-yard lines, and the Texans has no punt return yards in the game.

This marks the second time in Allen's career that he has received an AFC Player of the Week Honor. He also won the award following his performance in a 2014 Week 14 win at the San Diego Chargers.

This is the second AFC Player of the Week honor for the Patriots this season, with Stephen Gostkowski also being named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in New England's season opening win at Arizona on September 11.
