Robert Kraft On Election, Giving Back For Thanksgiving
BOSTON (CBS) – Speaking at a charity event Monday night, Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he is thankful to be living in the "greatest country in the world." Kraft and Patriots players handed out baskets filled with turkeys and Thanksgiving fixings to 220 families in need in Roxbury.
"It's just a moment when we all step back and realize we're living in the greatest country in the world, we have a lot to be thankful for, we just had a big election, and it's an organized democracy where everyone can protest, do what they want but we're free to do that and not second guess so I feel very fortunate to be in this country," Kraft said.
Kraft made the comments at the 23rd annual Thanksgiving basket event sponsored by the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries and Stop & Shop supermarkets.
"These families, the little kids are so appreciative and love it so much it's a very special evening," Kraft said.
Kraft also spoke about the Patriots' 30-17 win over the 49ers in San Francisco on Sunday afternoon. The game was a homecoming for Tom Brady and Julian Edelman.
"It was sick. Three or four times the whole stadium, especially in the fourth quarter, were going 'Brady!'" Kraft said. "The atmosphere was great and Julian catching that first touchdown all of Redwood was really excited."
Kraft said defensive tackle Alan Branch is "a great guy" but could not talk about his reported suspension.
