Jamie Collins Returns To Practice Field For Patriots

BOSTON (CBS) -- For the first time in three weeks, Jamie Collins was back on the practice field for the New England Patriots on Friday.

The linebacker has been dealing with an undisclosed illness that reportedly caused him to lose weight and strength. While it was reported that he had recovered from that illness last week, Collins did not hit the practice field for the Patriots until Friday.

Collins was listed as doubtful on Friday's injury report, making it very unlikely that he will play Sunday when the Patriots visit the Denver Broncos. Even if he can't go on Sunday, getting Collins back for the rest of the season would be a big boost to New England's top-ranked defense.

In seven games this season, the third-year linebacker had 51 total tackles (third on the team), 4.5 sacks and a team-high three forced fumbles.

Also on the injury front, receiver Danny Amendola was spotted on the practice field on Friday. Amendola suffered a knee injury in Monday night's win over the Buffalo Bills and was limited during Thursday's practice after sitting out Wednesday's session.
