Devin McCourty Plays Bingo With Patients At Boston Children's Hospital

BOSTON (CBS) -- Devin McCourty enjoyed a day off from the football field on Monday, a day that was full of fun and games for the Patriots safety.

But Patriots head coach Bill Belichick won't mind, as McCourty surprised patients at Boston Children's Hospital for a fun round of football-themed Bingo.

The visit was part of McCourty's mission to "Tackle Sickle Cell," a campaign that he and his twin brother, Jason, started in 2013 to raise money and spread awareness of sickle cell disease as well as increase the number of blood donors.

McCourty, who got to call out "Bingo" a few times during his visit, was more than happy to spend some time with patients at Children's on his off day.

"The best part is that I've been able to meet a bunch of young adults and young children that I've developed a relationship with. To come around and see them smile; see them have fun, whether it's bingo day or some of them get to come to an event and have fun for a little while - just to be a part of that is a blessing," he said.

McCourty is hoping his success at the bingo table carries over to next Monday night, when he hosts a Casino Night fundraiser at Royale in Boston to benefit Boston Children's Hospital's sickle cell programs. You can get more information on the November 9 Casino night on McCourty's website.
