Scenes For Marathon Bombing Movie 'Patriots Day' Will Be Filmed At MIT
CAMBRIDGE (CBS) – MIT is going to allow the Boston Marathon bombing movie "Patriots Day" to film some scenes on campus.
The film will chronicle the events surrounding the 2013 attack at the finish line of the marathon, the killing of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, and the shootout with the Tsarnaev brothers in Watertown.
In a letter sent to the MIT community, the administration says the scenes filmed on campus will be "entirely peaceful" and will tell the story of Collier's connection to the community.
"We feel it appropriate that Sean's depiction take place not at a facsimile of MIT, but rather here, where he was proud to serve, and where he is loved," MIT Executive Vice President and Treasurer Israel Ruiz said in the letter.
The scenes depicting Collier's murder will be filmed somewhere else.

MIT consulted with Chief of Police John DiFava and the Collier Family before the decision to allow filming was made.
The film is being produced by WBZ's sister company CBS Films. The crew is expected to be on the MIT campus for three days in June after Commencement.
John Goodman, J.K. Simmons and Mark Wahlberg will star in the film.
