Source: the Patriots have released RB Brandon Bolden. Could be a guy who returns down the line.
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 2, 2017
Given the shuffles that are expected to continue through the weekend, it's possible that Bolden is not an ex-Patriot for long.
Bolden has been among Belichick's favorites over the years, but the roster crunch has claimed his job.
6 p.m.: Things have quieted down for some time now. Here's as complete a list as we can compile at this time of all of today's and yesterday's cuts.

The Patriots also traded away Jacoby Brissett in exchange for Phillip Dorsett. And they traded a seventh-round and a fifth-round pick to Seattle for Cassius Marsh.
5:28 p.m.: No surprise here, but Harvey Langi has made the team.
Not a huge surprise, but sounds like Patriots UDFA LB Harvey Langi will make the initial 53-man roster.
— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) September 2, 2017
4:46 p.m.: The wheeling and dealing Pats have made another trade -- and it's with Seattle for the second straight day.
DE Cassius Marsh traded from Seattle to New England, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 2, 2017
Marsh had three sacks last year, his third season in the NFL.
Surprise, surprise - Marsh is also a core special teamer. Played 347 ST snaps along with 387 defensive snaps for Seattle.
— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) September 2, 2017
In a funny twist, the Patriots are just sending back the pick they acquired from Seattle on Friday, plus a fifth.
One more trade update: In return for DE Cassius Marsh, Seahawks are receiving 5th- and 7th-round picks from New England, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 2, 2017
4:41 p.m.: The Patriots are parting with Geneo Grissom, their third-round pick in 2015.
Geneo Grissom released, per source.

Going into the season with Flowers, Wise and Butler as the traditional DEs.
4:27 p.m.: It was believed that Cameron Fleming and LaAdrian Waddle might have been competing for a roster spot. But reports say they'll both make the team.
Pats keeping 4 tackles with Waddle, too. https://t.co/iD6KzatXlx
— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) September 2, 2017
Adam Butler also made the team.
Undrafted rookie DL Adam Butler made the Patriots 53-man roster. No surprise. He was awesome all summer.
— Kevin Duffy (@KevinRDuffy) September 2, 2017
4:21 p.m.: An unsurprising development after learning of Jacob Hollister making the team:
James O'Shaughnessy was cut, per source.
— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) September 2, 2017
4:19 p.m.: The Patriots' other preseason star, Austin Carr, has not made the team.
Austin Carr was cut, per source.
— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) September 2, 2017
4:16 p.m.: For now, tight end Jacob Hollister has made the team.
Undrafted TE Jacob Hollister has been told that the club is keeping him on the 53-man roster today. Good story.
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) September 2, 2017
Hollister was essentially up against Matt Lengel and James O'Shaughnessy for the third tight end spot on the roster. Hollister looked the best in the preseason games, and he's been rewarded for the time being. (Further moves in the hours and days to come, however, ensure that no bubble player can feel truly safe.)
4:10 p.m.: We're past the 4 p.m. deadline, so the moves have been made. It's now just a matter of when and how we find out.
Here are two more for now --
The Patriots released S David Jones, per source.
— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) September 2, 2017
The Patriots waived Nick Usher, per source.
— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) September 2, 2017
3:54 p.m.: At least one Hollister will not be on the Patriots any longer.
Undrafted WR Cody Hollister has been informed he is being waived. Practice squad candidate if he clears waivers.
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) September 2, 2017
No word yet on his brother, tight end Jacob Hollister.
3:50 p.m.: Doug Kyed has the scoops today:
The Patriots waived S Damarius Travis, per source.
— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) September 2, 2017
3:38 p.m.: A couple of more names on the list:
The Patriots waived G Jamil Douglas, per source.
— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) September 2, 2017
Undrafted CB Kenny Moore (Valdosta State) was informed that he is being waived. Top practice squad candidate if not claimed.
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) September 2, 2017
3:28 p.m.: D.J. Foster is a good player, but he just never got an opportunity with the Patriots.
Can't imagine Foster will clear waivers. Also wonder if he would've been safe if they didn't acquire Dorsett.
— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) September 2, 2017
D.J. Killings is also being waived.
The Patriots have informed undrafted CB D.J. Killings (Central Florida) that he has been waived.
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) September 2, 2017
3:18 p.m.: NESN reports that K.J. Maye and Trevor Bates have been waived.

— Doug Kyed (@DougKyed) September 2, 2017
2:07 p.m.: Here's a bit of a shocker -- the Pats have traded Jacoby Brissett.
The third-string QB is off to Indy, in exchange for WR Phillip Dorsett.
More info on that one right here.
1:46 p.m.: Defensive lineman Josh Augusta has been waved, according to Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal.
Patriots have waived Josh Augusta, per source
— Mark Daniels (@MarkDanielsPJ) September 2, 2017
Augusta was signed as a rookie free agent in May.
Daniels reports that Augusta suffered an injury in pregame before Thursday's game against the Giants, so he was waved with an injury designation.
12:50 p.m.: We've got our first Patriots movement of the day, and it involves Belichick making a trade with old friend Bob Quinn in Detroit.
The Patriots acquired defensive back/special teamer Johnson Bademosi in exchange for a 2019 sixth-round pick.
Lions receiving a 6th-round pick in 2019 from the Patriots in exchange for DB Johnson Bademosi, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 2, 2017
Bademosi gives them a blue chip ST coverage player as a fifth corner. Tried to sign him before he went to Detroit. Helps the kicking game
— Michael Lombardi (@mlombardiNFL) September 2, 2017
Bademosi had the 3rd-most special teams tackles in NFL since 2012. Said he had "maybe my best training camp ever." https://t.co/R0UYabkdvL … https://t.co/SHGJtoiW5E

11:25 a.m.: No news has trickled out this morning, and based on reports, it seems as though the Patriots will be waiting until after practice to make their cuts.
So, it might be a little while until we start to hear of more names today.
8:18 a.m.: So far, we know these players have been cut or waived by the Patriots.
Michael Bart
Sam Cotton
Jonathan Freeny
Glenn Gronkowski
Jason King
Max Rich
Jason Thompson
It's a list that will grow as the day goes on, so be sure to check back often.
The team also traded cornerback Justin Coleman to Seattle on Friday.
8 a.m.: The NFL decided that this year, teams would only face one roster cutdown day instead of having two such days, so today ought to be a very busy day across the league.
That includes the team down in Foxboro, the team that will kick off the NFL season in just a few short days at Gillette Stadium.
Before getting there, Bill Belichick and his staff will have to make some decisions -- and some will be more difficult than others.
Here's something to keep in mind, too:
Veterans with 4+ years of NFL service that are on a Week 1 roster have their base salary guaranteed. Some will be cut soon, re-added later.
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 1, 2017
Heading into today, we've heard many names thrown about as being on the bubble. But by the end of the day, we'll have a real answer as to who made the cut and who did not. As cuts roll in today, they'll be updated right here, so stay with us throughout the day.
