Patriots Blog: Browner Making Long-Lasting Impact With Physicality

FOXBORO (CBS) -- Much has been said about the little dust up that Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner had with Kenbrell Thompkins and wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea on Wednesday. But what Browner is doing will have a long lasting impact on the team.

The big corner is setting a tone. Practices have been aggressive because he's not giving an inch. In turn, the whole defense has done the same. There has been a lot of pushing and shoving, and the competition level is high.

Not to mention, there has been a ton of smack talk among teammates.

This is all a welcomed change. The Patriots have always been physical, but lately, not very intimidating. That's what their defense is bordering on.

Also, the aggressiveness displayed by the defense has benefited the offense. The wide receivers have had to work harder to get free off the line, and they have to block harder to free up teammates. This is a sort of grind the Pats offense has needed.

Browner is going to miss the first four games of the season due to a suspension.  But he's setting a tone now in camp, and hopefully it carries over until he gets back in Week 5 against Cincinnati. That's what he and the Pats are hoping for.

This is how Browner always plays, and the Pats need more of this in their locker room.
