Pair Arrested In Beating Death Of 4-Year-Old In Brockton
BROCKTON (CBS) – A man and woman have been arrested in the death of a 4-year-old boy in Brockton last year.
Last June, 4-year-old Chauncey Cohen was brought to Good Samaritan Hospital by his mother, Tania Merisca. He was unresponsive and later pronounced dead.
Cohen had been staying at a hotel with Merisca and her boyfriend, Antonio Durham. At the time, Merisca told investigators her son became unresponsive while she was giving him a bath.
The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the abdomen. After a lengthy investigation, Durham and Merisca were arrested and charged.
Durham, 32, is charged with murder in the boy's death. Merisca, 27, is charged with being an accessory after the fact. Both will be arraigned in Brockton District Court on Tuesday.
