Father Drowns While Swimming With Children On Cape Cod

OSTERVILLE (CBS) – A father who was swimming with his two young children at a pond in Osterville has died.

Rescue crews rushed to Joshua Pond Monday night after the swimmer was reported missing at about 8:00 p.m. The man's body was found about 45 minutes later.

The children reported their father missing to another swimmer.

"They were playing on the shoreline, they were very young and they looked up and they couldn't find their father," said Captain Tom Burchell, of the Centerville Fire Department.

"When this gentleman showed up to go for a swim, they told him that they were looking for their father and they couldn't find him."

The man's identity has not been released.

Barnstable and State Police are investigating the man's death.
