Orphaned Baby Fox Rescued From Den In Brockton

WEYMOUTH (CBS) - The New England Wildlife Center is treating an adorable new patient at its facilities in Weymouth - an orphaned 3-week-old fox.

Someone found the little guy, who weighs only about a pound, by himself in a den in Brockton. Officials at NEWC say the pup's mother was killed by a car and all three of his siblings had already passed away when he was discovered.

"We are evaluating to be sure that he is completely healthy," NEWC said in an email.

The group is putting out calls to other local wildlife centers looking for another fox that can serve as the little guy's friend and mentor.

Assuming the fox is healthy, once he is old enough, which would likely be this summer, he will be released back into the wild.
