Police Searching For Orange Murder Victim's Stolen Station Wagon

ORANGE (CBS) – Investigators released the identities of an elderly couple attacked inside their Orange home this week, leaving a 95-year-old man dead and his wife seriously injured.

Thomas Harty was found dead inside an East River Street home on Thursday morning. His wife, 77-year-old Joanna Fisher, was taken to UMass Medical Center with serious injuries following an apparent Wednesday night home invasion.

The medical examiner's office is working to determine the cause of Harty's death.

After the attack, the couple's 2003 Toyota Corolla station wagon was stolen. It is a gray or silver vehicle with the license plate M99949.

Larry Fisher says his mother Joanna is doing OK at the hospital, despite the ordeal that's left the family reeling over the sudden death of a man who'd lived through so much.

"They're cowards and I can't wait to meet them," Larry Fisher said of the suspects.

"Big shock, what happened," Harty said. "I know Tom's in heaven. I know that because he's been good to everybody."

David Burbank, who lives next door to the home, said he is on edge following the gruesome crime.

"Last night I had a hell of a time going to sleep," Burbank said.

"What bothers me most is to think if somebody had come to my house that night, I would have probably opened the door and let them in, thinking that they had probably broken down in the road or something."

Investigators returned to the home on Friday morning searching for evidence.

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call the Orange Police Department.
