2 Motorcyclists Killed In Early Morning O'Neill Tunnel Crash

BOSTON (CBS) – Two men died in a crash involving a pair of motorcycles inside the Tip O'Neill Tunnel early Saturday morning.

Massachusetts State Police say a group of several motorcyclists was riding north on the Expressway just after 2 a.m. when two drivers lost control and crashed.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police said initial investigation shows 28-year-old Jerry Alphonse, of Everett, was driving a 2006 Honda CBR600 along with Aralt Cesaire, 26, of Medford, who was driving a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R600. Both were driving north on Interstate 93 North near Exit 23 when they lost control and hit a retaining wall on the left side of the tunnel.

Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, police said.
