One Person Killed In 2-Alarm Waltham House Fire

WALTHAM, Mass. (CBS/AP) — Authorities say one person has died in an early morning two-alarm fire at a Waltham home.

The fire in the multi-family house on Crescent Street was reported at about 3 a.m. Friday.

A spokeswoman for the state Fire Marshal's office confirms the death of what appears to be an adult male.

No name was immediately released.

Firefighters found the victim's body on the third floor of the home.

Two other people were hurt and one was taken to the hospital.

The Red Cross, which responded to the scene, says eight people were displaced.

Improper disposal of smoking materials is believed to be the cause of the fire.
