One Killed, One Injured In New Bedford Shooting

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — Authorities are investigating a shooting incident in New Bedford that has left one man dead and a second person in critical condition.

Police responding to shots fired found two victims outside a Collette Street home on Friday night.

The Bristol County District Attorney's office on Saturday identified the dead victim as 20-year-old Daniel Smith of New Bedford. Authorities declined to release the name of the second victim, saying only that it is a 25-year-old man who is now in critical condition.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen anything or has any information about the shooting to contact police in New Bedford.

Prosecutors declined to release additional information, saying that the investigation is "extremely active and ongoing."
