One Fund Readies Second Distribution To Marathon Bombing Survivors
BOSTON (CBS) – One Fund Boston has completed a draft protocol for the second distribution of funds to Boston Marathon bombing survivors.
The plan is designed to give the largest cash gifts to those whose injuries involve long-term medical costs.
The One Fund Boston currently has nearly $19 million in available funds.
In addition to distributing funds to survivors in cash, the second distribution will provide funding for a medical collaborative designed to provide care for what the One Fund describes as the "invisible wounds" of the Boston Marathon bombings. These injuries include tinnitus, hearing loss, mental health issues, post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.
The One Fund will work with leading area hospitals to provide evaluation, treatment, care coordination and support for survivors and family members. There will also be a virtual clinic to bring together survivors who live far from the Boston area.
The protocol is expected to be finalized June 21 and applications will be sent June 26 directly to those eligible for the distribution.
The last day to submit applications for the second distribution will be July 30.
