One Dead In Officer-Involved Shooting In NH

PETERBOROUGH, N.H. (CBS) -- A man was shot dead Tuesday morning during a confrontation with police.

Police were involved in a short car pursuit with the man on Route 136 in Peterborough around 10:20a.m. before the shooting.

"These are dangerous situations for everyone involved," said assistant state attorney general Jeff Strelzin, whose office is now in charge of investigating what happened.

"The individual who was killed was out of his vehicle when he was shot and killed by a police officer, and at this point we haven't been able to identify who he is," Strelzin said.

Authorities are now looking into the suspect's activities in recent days and whether he had any interactions with police.

No police officers were hurt. Investigators are canvassing the area and talking to drivers on the road who saw the incident.
