Old Farmer's Almanac Predicts 'Above Normal' Snowfall This Winter

BOSTON (CBS) – Is winter about to make a comeback?

Earlier this year, New Englanders were left wondering what happened to Old Man Winter after several months of mild temperatures and below-average snowfall.

But if the Old Farmer's Almanac is to be believed, things could change this time around.

The annual folksy guide full of wit and wisdom says there will be "above normal" snowfall in the region, with the snowiest periods expected to take place between mid-January and mid-February.

It also predicts, however, that winter temperatures will once again be warmer than average.

If you can't stand the snow, don't panic just yet. Most meteorologists don't take the 225-year-old almanac's predictions too seriously. Plus, last year's forecast called for a cold and snowy winter, and that didn't exactly pan out.
